Hi Avid Readers!
No one ever said a writers life is boring!
I have several irons in the fire, so I am now reduced to a waiting game. And I am not the most patient of people. There’s not much else I can do on the writing front until I start getting responses to my submissions. We shall see.
I am turning my attention to my painting. I have a sister site, AlanBerkshierartist.com. I am intending to create an on-line store to exhibit and sell miniature paintings. 4 x 4 inch wooden “canvasses”, with their own individual display easels. It’s in it’s early stages at the moment, I have a lot of research to do, lay-out, cost, etc. So it might be a few weeks to the launch, but I will keep you informed.
Meanwhile I am still on inkitt.com where several novels are up for grabs to read free. But a small word of warning, the novels may well be removed in the near future, depending on the awaited responses mentioned earlier. So if you want to read them I suggest you get stuck in!
Lastly, THE PEOPLES ARTIST, I came a respectable third in my group of several hundreds. In the end it came down to who was prepared to spend the most on buying votes. It no longer was a contest of talent, the art wasn’t being judged on its merit but on bought votes. Such is life.

Except now, the stakes are much higher.

BLOOD DEBT and RATMAN, two separate novels, plunging Devlin and O’Shea into a twilight world of death and ancient evil.
The desperate struggle for survival continues.
ABHARTACH
If you think vampires belong to Transylvania, Irish Folklore has a darker surprise. A chilling story comes from the north: Abhartach, described in later traditions as a cruel chieftain, sometimes a sorcerer, originating in Count Derry.
In the story Abhartach’s reign is so feared that a warrior kills him. But even in death the community refuse to honour him. He is buried upright, a humiliation, meant to mock him as disgraced. That should have ended it.
It didn’t.
Abhartach rises from the grave, demanding tribute from his people. Not cattle, not silver but bowls of human blood to sustain his undead body.
Terrified the warrior seeks council, Druidic advice. He is told brute force is useless against Abhartach unless it becomes ritual. Abhartach must be killed with a weapon of Yew, (A tree long associated with death and graveyards.) then buried head down so he cannot claw his way back and the unholy grave sealed under a stone. Only then does the land fall quiet.
Abhartach is a tyrant who refuses to stay dead. Blood tribute isn’t merely horror, it’s exploitation made literal: the ruler who consumes his people.
